coughcough

i think i should start feeling insecure why i only used about one n a half days to do my assignment while everyone else is working so hard on it for at least days or more than a week. its obviously not that im brilliant (i wish i was!), its more a combination of i just want to get it over and done with + even if i spend more time on it i really dont have much else to write. please just dont let me get a lousy grade :X

by the way i really need to complain, about how im choking from all those smoke that is coming from people burning stuff. i really dont want to be offensive or anything, and i know we're supposed to be all multi-religious etc, but there are really a lot of cons in doing that.

first, the smoke. come on, dont tell me there is ANYONE who enjoys breathing the smoke. it fills up your entire house, what if a family has someone elderly or a kid with respiratory problems? in addition, it pollutes the air. (if at this point you're thinking who cares about environmental pollution, you better not be one of those who complains about erratic weather.)

secondly, the ashes. i feel sorry for my maid, who has to clean the house. those ashes (ive tried to clean some myself) fly all about, and disintegrate into powder when you try to wipe them, causing more flying about. also, esp during certain festivals, the entire neighbourhood will be covered in ashes. the cleaning aunty is so old n frail, and i see her having to sweep and sweep and sweep and the ashes fly and fly and fly, and... you get the drift. furthermore, i respect people's religion (despite all this ranting), so i do try my best not to step on the ashes, but seriously, tiptoeing n hopping around in public is just unsightly.

third, its dangerous! that is why nowadays in neighbourhoods they have those common places for people to burn stuff right. cos there have been accidents where people burn stuff along their own corridors or outside their own houses with those red tin containers or whatever you call them. ive walked past those containers in a narrow corridor before, and i could feel the intense heat from all that burning. imagine when kids run about, what if they knock into those things?

i really dont know what is the rationale behind burning stuff to transport them to the netherworld. i know its a tradition, but why burn, why cannot freeze (which is much cleaner) or whatever other method. ok maybe there IS some story or explanation behind it and i dont know it. but practically speaking, there are really many cons in doing that. i dont expect people to drop their century old traditions, that's too unrealistic. but if i was a scientist or researcher or designer, i'd design some system to let people burn stuff and channel the smoke n ashes elsewhere instead of just letting them into the air.

whatever it is, im just ranting cos they're still burning at 1am and all i smell around is smoke and i know for a fact tmr morning my house will be filled with ashes. so ive closed my windows. i just hope i dont suffocate. and just a side thought, what day is it today, why are they burning???

i know my math!

booze + bakkua + annoying SOMEONE = loss of voice (QED)

i should have known, from those slices of bak kua, to incessant drinking at mambo, it was the sure-fire way to get my voice running away from home.

that, plus using whatever voice i have left to argue for hours with annoying SOMEONE, my voice really got mad n left.

oh voice, come back please.

//edit at 3.33am: the SOMEONE has partially redeemed his sins by bringing crystal jade porridge for supper. but... i still have no voice. boo.

just follow LAW.

its been some time since i last posted so i reckon i better do this in brief parts.
there was kaihung's birthday, with many many medicine people, plus (!!!) steven lim. you know, steven lim aka sg idol wannabe aka eyebrow plucker.

i know the pic quality sucks but my phone is only like 1.3 megapixels and i had no time to take out the camera while he was 'she bangs-ing". i have an entire video of him stripping down to his yellow briefs but i believe no one really wants to see it :X ok if you do i suggest you come find me privately so as not to let the whole world know of your secret fetish. actually the only contact i have with him before this was when i was in sec 1 or 2, where he was trying to sell his brow trimming skills to me by telling me my brows looked like LA BI XIAO XIN's. i should be totally biased against him but well, when i saw him eating the buffet food after the birthday stint, when he looked remotely normal, i sort of felt sorry for him in a way. he was paid so little to do that! but then again, who's to judge. maybe he enjoys it genuinely. anyway im really missing the point here, happy birthday kaihung!!

then there was butterfactory for eusoff bash.

and of course, 14/02, at the terrace. despite having a rough ride this week we somehow manage to celebrate valentine's after all. wonder if it'll get better. too much sniffing gives you a peeling nose. (sucky pics again cos of bad lighting by the poolside, im making a mental note to bring my camera to hall)

the new norm is for men to bake. boy did cookies. block guys did brownie for ALL the girls! even had a heart on it!

went shopping for cny clothes just now but ended buying a bag cos there are NO NICE CLOTHES. whats the world coming to. and caught the local flick just follow law. errr not v fantastic but it's lame i suppose. my fav character in the whole show is the silly indian security guard. he's damn funny.

so that's that. and its the mid sem break soon, discounted by cny. sigh. plus TWO assignments. double sigh. but whatever, for now, its the weekend!! and suntanning and protege and angbaos! :D

yay to no school!

thanks to crown, i have a free day today! so as i am sitting in front of my laptop n tv, chomping on mooooo ice cream, im doing alot of thinking! sad to say im not thinking about work, as i ought to.

as some of you might know, i was planning to do THIS for my 21st. because its really nice for a cosy gathering (unless you get sea sick) and its different from all normal other birthday celebrations. however, ive also coincidentally decided this year that i want to take a month long vacation somewhere new york, london or the like.

now, my birthday's in june. yet i also want to go vacation in june cos dec is winter (i hate the cold!) and no im not free in may nor july. so i cant possibly ask my mum for like 2k to let me spend my birthday on a yacht, and another like 6k or something to go on a vacation. (naturally im a pooooor uni student so i cant self sustain these either). so i think i should just choose one. in fact i thought its not quite a bad idea to spend my 21st overseas! spending 2k on a 6h yacht trip does seem a little unworthwhile (no matter how fun the idea of it sounds :( sniff)

so now im caught in a dilemma! but meanwhile i need to find someone who lives (or has friends who live) in new york or london or paris who can let me stay for free or at a cheap rate for a month or so. anyone?
